As The World Turns…

29 Aug

Hey everyone!

I hope you all are having a wonderful Wednesday.

Well, today was my first day of classes for the Fall semester of my SENIOR year of COLLEGE. Yes…that’s right, this will hopefully be my last Fall semester as an undergraduate student! How exciting & scary! Since I am a commuter (ya know, someone who is such a home-body that she would rather drive back & forth everyday than stay in a dorm..yeah that’s me! Haha) I will be driving to campus everyday this semester, which in reality, kinda sucks, but its my choice so it’s all good. Anyway, the last two semesters I was blessed to only have Monday/Wednesday/Friday classes, not so much this go around though. But despite the driving, I really think this semester will be much easier than my first two at SAU.

During my first year at SAU my life was changed forever. As many know, my sweet Daddy had been sick for a very long time…last October (2011), he had very critical surgery that he never really recovered from, and on December 12th he went to Heaven to be with Jesus. Losing my Daddy made me realize that your heart really can be completely shattered, I’ve also learned that nothing any person says or does could make the pain of losing someone go away. The only One who can ever heal a broken heart, no matter how shattered it may be, is God. And though He didn’t heal my Daddy on Earth like we hoped and prayed, He did heal him. My Daddy’s healing came the moment he took his last breath and went to Heaven. In Heaven he’s completely healed…he has no more pain. And though it will take a lot of time, I KNOW that God will heal my family’s broken hearts, and I KNOW that we will see my Daddy again when we go to Heaven. Like the old hymn says, “When we all get to Heaven, what a day of rejoicing that will be, when we all see Jesus, we’ll sing and shout the victory!”  What a blessing it is to have hope in Jesus Christ!

So, though today has been a good day for me, there are other people whose lives are being changed, possibly forever, by something you’ve all heard of…Hurricane Isaac. Seven years ago today, Hurricane Katrina hit the United States and resulted in thousands of people who lost everything. After Katrina hit, I was blessed to be able to go with 8 Days of Hope to Bay St. Louis, MS to minister and help some of the victims rebuild their homes & lives. Though we were touched and humbled by the experience, our efforts didn’t fix everything that Katrina destroyed. In a situation such as Katrina, and now Hurricane Isaac, it makes people wonder what they could possibly do to help? Though I don’t know much, I do know that our prayers for the people of New Orleans, Biloxi, Bay St. Louis, and every other city affected by this storm will be heard. We serve a God that is bigger than ANY storm & He hears all our prayers!

Take time today to pray for the people of this world that are hurting. And if you’re hurting right now, remember that God loves you more than you could imagine & He cares for you! You are all loved and cherished by the Creator of the Universe, never forget that.

“Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us…” Psalm 62:8

Well here we go…

26 Aug

Hello everyone!

So this is my very first blog! (insert applause & cheering!!) I’m excited to share my thoughts with anyone willing to read them. I love to write so hopefully this will be a success. My purpose in having this blog is not just to ramble on about things that really don’t matter; it’s a way for me to minister to others, share my life experiences, share recipes, fun ideas, and memories! I know this first blog is short, but I hope to blog at least once a week, if not more. Thank you for joining me on this blogging journey!

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11

Blessings in Christ,
