26 Nov

It is Thanksgiving Eve! Okay, so I know that isn’t a real “day” but oh well. Tomorrow is Thanksgiving day and I have so much to be thankful for, not just today, but everyday.

Thanksgiving shouldn’t be the only day that we are thankful. We have so much to be thankful for and we are each so blessed. Your life may not be perfect, but no one’s is. The fact that you woke up this morning with breath in your lungs is reason in itself to be thankful.

Being grateful isn’t always easy though. We have struggles and pain in this life that oftentimes blind us from seeing the daily blessings. Even through pain, if we try hard enough, we can see still see God’s goodness. Yesterday was like that for me.

November 24th is my Daddy’s birthday. Since he’s been gone, that is a sad day for me. I can’t help but wish I could bake him a cake and give him a big hug! He was hands down the best Daddy in the world. So since yesterday was his birthday, my family and I decided to go out for dinner just to be together. We ate pizza while Adalyn and Emery made us smile. Then we went to Walmart and Adalyn entertained us the whole time. It wasn’t a sad time anymore, it was wonderful. Just what I needed for sure!

Adalyn bustin’ a move in Walmart! 🤗

See what I mean by being entertained? My nieces are the best. 💕

Anyway, it isn’t just the sad times in life that make it difficult to see blessings, it’s also the frustrating times. So I’ve blogged before about ladybugs and how much I hate them and how they tend to swarm in the Fall…remember? 😁

Well today they were terrible. They were all around the outside doors to our house and trying to get passed them to get inside was a fight! 🐞 So to avoid being swarmed, I stayed inside as best I could this afternoon. Which worked out pretty well because I was able to do some cooking to prepare for tomorrow!

After the preparation! 😁

The finished product!!! 😄

So see? There’s always a silver lining to the frustrations in life…this time, it was pie! 🍏

But seriously, no matter what you’re going through, no matter how dark a time in your life, look for the good. Choose to have an attitude of gratitude.

“Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.” ‭‭Psalm‬ ‭100:4‬

God is good, all the time.

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Let’s Makeup!

20 Nov

So this post is going to be a little different than my usual posts. I wanted to do a post about my love for makeup & all my favorite products!

I have loved wearing makeup since I was a little girl. In fact, I actually wore red lipstick for picture day in Kindergarten! *Note: looking back that was not the best choice! 😜 I looked a little like this:

Okay, maybe not that bad, but you get the point! Anyway, my makeup choices and styles have greatly evolved over the years. In my teenage years I was ALL about bright colored eyeshadow! Neon green & pink, as well as bright blue and purple.

That was circa 2008! Then came the dark eyeliner phase around 2009…there were times I looked like this

Check out Hannah & Kaylee videos…link to this one in the paragraph above!

As a side note, I’m not the only one who loved putting on makeup as a little girl…my three year old niece does too!

She has on purple eyeshadow here! 💜

She even loves doing my makeup! 😉

So now we come to the present. My style of makeup has toned down a lot since my bright pink eyeshadow days. I like a more natural look with light pink blush and light brown and nude eyeshadow. I’ve learned that wearing makeup is about highlighting the natural beauty God gave you. Here is a more recent picture…

Now I am by no means a makeup expert and everyone has their own style of applying and what products they use. I have tried many, many different brands and products ranging from all different prices. Most of the makeup I’ve discovered to be the best can be purchased at your local drugstore, however, there are a few that are more expensive but so worth the extra money! Here are my favorites:

First we have concealer. I have dark circles under my eyes and of the dozens of concealers I’ve tried, this is hands down my favorite. It is around $18 a tube, but it will last months. So worth the money!

This lovely foundation can be found at Walmart or your local drugstore. It is about $10 and is very long lasting! I’ve been using it for a few years.

Can you say “best powder EVER?!” This is it. I discovered this probably two years ago thanks to my sweet sis-in-law! It is a little on the pricey side, but worth every penny.

I’ve been using this bronzer for close to 5 years. It is low priced and one container lasts forever!

I have tried expensive blush and cheap blush. My problem was always finding a blush that lasted until the end of the work day. I discovered this jewel and I’ve been using it for close to a year!

I have used this eyeliner for years and I don’t plan on stopping! You should try it out, you’ll thank me later! 😏 This $8 eyeliner even stays on when you cry. It’s the best!!

I discovered this lovely eye pallet about a year ago. For about $10 you can have a natural eye look that is simply gorgeous!

Last, but not least…my favorite mascara. It is a little on the expensive side but it is fantastic! It doesn’t run when you cry, but comes off easily when washing your face. I have short eyelashes and this has made such a difference for me! I don’t even have to use an eyelash curler anymore!!!!! I used to do this all the time:

Not anymore though! Thanks Benefit

And there you have it, my favorite makeup products!

Please feel free to check out the links in this post, they will take you right to each product online!

Until next time…stay beautiful! 💁🏻

I Remember

14 Nov

“I still remember the days I prayed for the things I have now.”

I found that quote a few months back. I love it.

When you become an adult you sometimes look back on your life and think, “if I had only known then, what I know now…” Having the Timehop app helps with that as well… 😛

Anyway, when I was a teenager I spent a lot of my weekends at home with my parents. There were so many times that I spent my Friday nights at home crying because I didn’t have a boyfriend or because I didn’t have a lot of friends to hang out with. It was a lonely time for me. I didn’t understand why, ya know?

But looking back, I wouldn’t trade those times for anything. Through that God protected my heart. He saved me from the temptations of the outside world. And now, my mom is my best friend in the world. All those weekends spent at home talking and crying to her just grew our friendship. I don’t know what I would do without her.

I didn’t have many boyfriends either. I spent many nights praying for my future husband. I had a list of qualities and I was not going to settle. Fast forward to 18. I met Houston. He was and is everything I prayed for in a future husband. And best of all? He had not dated a lot either, because he was waiting for the right one. God saved us for each other.

“I still remember the days I prayed for the things I have now.”

There are even blessings that I never really knew to pray for, but God gave them to me anyway. Like my nieces. I had never thought to pray that I would have nieces. I never had thought much about being an aunt either. But God knew I needed to be an aunt. He knew I needed those precious girls in my life.

So if you are praying for things in your life right now, don’t give up. God hears our prayers. He answers our prayers in His way and in His perfect timing. You might just look back one day and remember the days that you prayed for the things you have now.

Thank you God for giving us exactly what and who we need in our lives. You are so good to us.

I know I say this a LOT but, I love the weekends. They’re my most favorite. This Friday, 11.6.15, was one of the best. So much so, I have been inspired to blog about it!

I got to sleep in a little (yay!) today. Friday’s off work are big blessing when you’re so tired from the first part of the week. What is so different about sleeping in this Friday is that I had a dream about my Daddy. You see, I don’t remember my dreams very often, but this one, I remember quite vividly. It goes like this;  I remember receiving a text message from him that said:

“No star in the sky is as pretty as you.”

Then I remember going somewhere (I was late, of course) and sitting down beside momma in what seemed to be an audience, like we were going to watch a play or something. Daddy was there too, beside me on my right. He was upright on what seemed to be a bed or gurney. He was asleep, but he was there. Then I woke up…

When I woke up that morning my heart was filled with sadness. It will be four years next month since he went to Heaven to be with Jesus. My heart still aches, especially this time of the year. The “text message” he sent me wasn’t anything I’ve heard before. It was like a real message from him. That makes my heart happy. I miss him more than words can say. My eyes are filled with tears as I type this, but I have hope in knowing that I will see him again in Heaven someday.

The best parents in the universe.

I love this picture so much.

Today was also a day of firsts! Adam & Chelsey took Adalyn to see her very first movie in theaters!! From what I hear she absolutely loved it! I’m so glad that she got to go on a “date” with her mommy and daddy! ☺️

Such a little cutie & so grown up!!! ❤️

While they were at the movies momma kept sweet Emery Kate! And…she rolled over for the first time!!!! Can’t believe how fast she’s growing up!!

Precious little angel!!! ❤️

And last, but certainly not least, my sweet hubby took me out for a “date day” today. We spent the entire afternoon and evening together talking, laughing, making memories, and having so much fun!!! I believe it is SO important to continue to date your spouse even after marriage! Beyond blessed and thankful to have such a wonderful husband to share this life with.

Date day, plaid day. ❤️

See why I love the weekends so much? God is so good, everyday, in all ways! He is a good, good Father!

Until next time…
